Last week we were invited to the official opening of Kikiland in The Mall in Maidstone. Excitedly we set off, looking forward to exploring this new indoor play centre. When we arrived we were greeted by a ship full of excited children and the Mayor!
Once the official ribbon had been cut we all went back inside for a good look round and play!
As soon as we started walking around, I realised that Kikiland is very special! It’s not your average play centre and so much thought and care has gone in to every aspect…
A beautiful ship awaits you as you enter and as you explore further you find a disco room that leads into the centre of a volcano! Watch out for any eruptions!
Kikiland also has different rooms for the children to play in – a fantastic train room, a dressing up room, a reading hut, a games room and even a mini cinema room…complete with chaise lounge!
As well as all these great rooms there are also a super range of ride in cars, wendy houses and a teepee complete with zebra and giraffe!
The adults entering Kikiland haven’t been forgotten either. The cafe is stocked with delicious cakes, chocolates, healthy snacks and a whole array of drinks.
There is another part of Kikiland that also makes it special; their partnership with KCFN, who are a Kent based charity working to give chances to Kent and Medway children and young people. Their mission is to “inspire and implement innovative products and services which enhance the lives of children and young people and support the organisations working with them.”
One of the areas KCFN focus on, is engaging children and young people through play, and this is where Kikiland comes in. They will host play sessions working alongside KCFN to provide a rich and positive environment for those who need it most.
Such a wonderful thing to do!
Have you been to Kikiland? We’d love you to share your visit on the reviews section of the Kikiland listing on Mumsnet Local Kent.
