Learning to read and having fun with Reading Eggs

It has always been important to me that my son enjoys books and reading.

I want him to be able to get lost in a different world where anything is possible!

So, from a very early age we were sharing books and reading together.

Now, as a 3 year old, he can often be found looking through his books and retelling the stories (often with funny voices!).

Before he starts school next year, I wanted him to be a little more aware of what the words on the pages he enjoys so much are for.

When I heard about Reading Eggs I was intrigued and wanted to find out more.

On their site it says that they make ‘learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities.’

I signed up for a trial and we started exploring…

He was immediately captivated! He loved the songs and the instant praise when he recognised the right sound.

The repetitive nature of the games means that he quickly understands what to do.

It was a lovely different activity for us to do together.

He quickly got to grips with what he had to do and before long our little avatar had moved to part 3 on the map!

I can really see how this could benefit with initial reading, so during our trial I’ll be blogging regularly about our progress.
