During half term we’re all in the car much more than usual.
To help make the journeys as stress free as possible, there are a few things we have ready.
The Traffic Jam Box
The fear of getting stuck in traffic with not enough snacks or things to do made me create this box.
It sits in the footwell at the back and gives me great peace of mind.
I just need to remember the best before dates!
After we’ve played eye spy to death, we like to play the alphabet game. It’s very versatile – animals, food, TV characters, names – you pick the topic and then take it in turns going through the alphabet naming things that start with your letter.
When my sons are old enough I’m looking forward to playing the “I went to the shop and bought” game. If you’ve never played it before you’re in for a treat! You take it in turns adding items bought at the shop but you have to remember all the items bought before your turn!
Now a first aid kit is an obvious emergency item to have in the car. But we have other kits too. We’ve got the ‘Sick Kit’ which consists of wipes, a couple of carrier bags and an old towel. There is also the ‘In Case of Accident Kit’. This one has a complete change of clothes for both children. It can be used in tandem with the ‘Sick Kit’ or separately in case of toileting incidents or any other situation where their current outfit gets covered in mud/water/something *delete as appropriate!
